To start off by stating the obvious, I haven't managed to draw, paint or let alone upload much artwork at all these last few months! Working life and living-with-other-half life has many benefits, but time for painting isn't one of them.
On the upside, knitting and crochet are easier to fit in, you can easily pick up a project for a few spare minutes then put it away again. I've even managed to produce this crochet dinosaur.
After several weeks of not putting anything down on paper, I feel very rusty with a pencil or brush. To break the deadlock, I've set myself a little challenge, and I'm putting it right here so I can't pretend it didn't happen: The 2 hour picture challenge!
I've put down 4 random topics per week that came to mind. My aim will be to create some simple paintings in 2 hours or less, on cheap supermarket sketchbook paper (the expensive art shop sketchbook or watercolour paper only make my creative inhibitions worse at the moment) and with whatever media come handy.
I've given myself a headstart on my day off today and already ticked off the first two speedpaintings in one afternoon. Both in guache, the thin paper couldn't take any watercolours. This had the added benefit of stopping me trying to correct and overpaint things again and again.
Fingers crossed for the rest...
